.40 S&W single stack, 1911 frame?
Does anyone make (American I hope) a single stack, 1911 type frame, pistol in the .40 S&W caliper. I am over Glocks and double stack autos. I reload with lead and after good advice and comments over on the reloading forum, I'm thinking this style of pistol will suit me as my .45's load and shoot it all. Thanks in advance.

I think most of the makers of 1911s either currently offer a variant in 40SW, or did at one point. There is actually quite a number to choose from:
Para-Ordnance.
Taurus
Springfield Armory
Dan Wesson
STI
Les Baer.
Kimber.
Ed Brown.
etc
Figure out what configuration you want, and how much you want to spend!

After you've done that. . .forget the .40SW and get the gun in [;)].45ACP!

Personally, I don't have a lot of use for .40SW 1911s. As far as I can tell, the whole point of that round is to put something more powerful in double-stack 9mm frame pistols. If you're running a full sized single stack steel 1911, why not just go for 45?
I suppose a .40SW 1911 might make sense if you already have other guns in .40SW and you just want to keep the same caliber. It might make sense in a scaled-down gun smaller than a "true" 1911 for concealment.
If I were going "there", I'd personally take a 9mm 1911 instead. Ammo is cheap, you're still putting out a decent power level, and best of all, recoil is effectively negligible from an all steel gun, meaning you can spit out multiple shots in split seconds if you like.0 -

If you have some gun-smithing skills why not get a used complete pistol in either 9MM or 45ACP then get a slide from Fusion and a barrel from KKM and build a 40 TOP half. Then you will have 2 Pistols in one. I have one 1911 Frame I use for 7 different calibers from 177 pellet driven by just a primer to 45 ACP. then you will have a SHTF pistol 0 -

bob serva at Fusion can hook you up with a top half.
i switch my fusion CBOB back and forth between .40 and 9mm.
bob will also do a threaded barrel for your suppressor. [;)]
all his stuff is match grade, slide and barrels in SS.

Thanks 'Perry', That's an idea I can get my arms around. I will start on the research/calling and see what I can come up with. BTW, I have already visted Springfield's web site and found nothing in .40 in a full size 1911 frame, which is what I'm after. Thanks to all for the advise and comments. 0 -
Springfield does not make the 40 anymore. I bought one years ago from Shot Show..They are real nice guns when you can find them. They do pop up on here from time to time. 0 -

It is CALIBER.
If you are going to be carrying a 45 sized gun, you might as well have the 45.
