ruger 96/44

i have found a ruger 96/44 lever rifle and am wondering on what it is worth. ive searched the auctions already but just wanted some more input. it has a small chip out of the stock right behind the receiver about an eighth inch wide.the blueing is like new and the rifle comes with the ruger rings and two extra mags. thanks

  If you checked the completed auctions, it looks like a $ 450.00 gun to sell right away. $ 550 to $ 600 if you list it on the auction side with a reserve.

  I have one & I'm not terribly fond of it. The stock design seems to have been made with a scope in mind. It is a bit hard to get my head quickly in position to use the iron sights. The curved iron buttplate also means the recoil is felt a bit more than should be necessary.
