1911 question
If you wanted a good 1911 would it be better to buy the Springfield and add the options you wanted yourself, or buy a Kimber that is already tricked out, or something else that I have not mentioned? You guys generally give good advice so that is what I am trying to get again. Thanks guys!

The slide on my .48acp Colt Series 70 Government Model keeps locking back during firing. I've tried replacing magazine to no success. I though it might be I'm not holding it right but that doesn't seem to the case either. Might it be the slide stop spring?
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?0 -

The slide is damascus. Two different steels beat together.

Never heard of Him but the parts alone would be close to $1000.00 Will give you a thrill if shooting in low light. Not a gun I would chose to own . To much BLING for my taste. I like match grade target guns, But is will get comments at a pistol range. If you like that kind of gun and have the money BUY it.
EDITYes that is a Schuemann Barrel it is the ported one that needs the slide Cut and once installed on this type of arrangement you CANT go back. As I said it has more Bling then the pistols I like but is a very expensive gun to purchase all the parts0 -
Well, I was looking for a BBQ gun, and I am partial to Damascus. I like this better than engraving. I am buying for $1500, which is certainly high for a Caspian that is just put together, but in this case, it looks to me like there is a lot of work into to it. For that matter, the retail on a Damascus slide alone is $730 with a long lead time.
So I don't think I was going to get a Damascus slide 1911 for any less anywhere. Kind of reminds me of a custom hot rod.[;)]0 -

Very hard to guess the true value, since we don't know what the insides look like or how well they are put together, nor will there be much demand for that particular pistol.
But you could start pricing out the parts, and I agree that you're not going to end up with less than $1000. (Note that once the gun is assembled and presumably test fired, the parts likely aren't worth full retail anymore).
Assuming a good quality build, I don't think $1500 is crazy.
But just speaking personally if I were going to spend that kind of money on a 1911, this isn't what I'd buy. Don't care for the porting, nor would I care to pay extra purely for the "bling" factor. But that's subjective.0 -
Appears to be a complete assembly project. Where's the hand work in fit & appearance? The front sight seems not set professionally right. Can't believe magnesium is used in gun parts(possibly the trigger shoe)like "olds'cool" style vehicle rims. Once magnesium gets to that right temp... flaming liquid metal balls flying everywhere. It's a attractive piece. That trigger looks slop free. Nice. 0 -

Trigger shoe perhaps by Dlask Arms. If it is, then they come in various lengths. I believe titanium may be used in the bow. Titanium is not durable but provides lightness and elasticity strength. Titanium can't rust and provides great alloying possibilities aiding in the humongous bonding of aluminum to steel and quite possibly stainless steel all together that otherwise may not be done. Aluminum has a stick quality when compressed much like plastic but in metal form its understandable as to why someone would choose a different material for a trigger shoe. I love the style of it though. Now comes the criticism responses... 0 -
Never much liked ported guns. And with the size and location of those holes, looks like you got a 2" barreled .450 hybrid. What good is that??? 0
