FN Supreme Action in 7x57

I have a FN supreme Mauser action in 7x57 with import markings by Firearms International of Washington DC. I think this is a gunsmith built weapon and only the action was imported but I do not know. The top f the barrel has a stamp just in front of the action of a hores head (much like a rook player in chess) with an F stamped inside it. The underneath side of the barrel has 2 stars stamped with the letter R inbetween them. Does anyone have any idea where this barrel was made?

  Sarge- Just a WAG without pictures, but Sako uses a trademark much as you describe.( A lionsheaded Griffon). That is a company in Finland that had its early headquarters in Riihimaki, Finland and had business dealings with Firearms International (They were the importers of Sako firearms until Garcia Took over in about 1972). The7X57Mauser chambering would be a rarity as it would be throughout the history of the company. Sako was purchased by Beretta a few years ago.-Mike

  Here are the photos of the proof marks on the top and bottom of the barrel and a photo of the muzzle break. I don't think they are Sako or FN. Is it possible they are Firearms International Acceptance?

  Sarge- I have Firearms International musketeer rifles in my collection and nothing like that on them. All that tells me is that I have no idea. You are correct- that is not the Sako trademark.-Mike

  The whole rifle is a bit unusual from the compensator/muzzle break to the stock which is nicely figured, checkered and also has a wundhammer palm swell and a large pistol grip cap. I have only observed the horse type barrel mark once before and I think that was on a customized Siamese Mauser in 45-70. That proof may be a custom rifle makers mark as FI brought in plenty of actions and gunsmiths bought them up for their projects. The SN# on this rifle is F30X probably pretty early.
