An original Trooper has the same action as a Python.
A Trooper Mk III or Mk V and King Cobra have the later coil spring action. The frames are not the same... grips do not interchange.

The Python uses an "antiquated" leaf-type mainspring while the others you mentioned use a conventional coil spring and there is a huge differnce in the smoothness of the Python action when compared to the others. The DA trigger pull on the Python remains light years ahead of any other Colt pistol using the coil spring and blindfolded you could easily tell the differnce between pistols.

Do anacondas and Diamondbacks have the newer coil spring too?

Thanks for the responses by the way...I'd love to pick up a python, watching a couple right now that will probably skyrocket at the end of the auction...watching a couple nice trooper mk IIIs too

Diamondbacks and the old Detective Specials and Agents (as well as the others based on the design) used the old leaf springs and not coil springs. The Anaconda, which is basically a scaled up King Cobra, uses the coil spring.
