Ever Catch a Tuna?
There are some thrilling things to angle on a rod and reel. Never hooked a tuna I did not love. Pound for pound there is not much out there to match them.
When you get to yellow fin and blue fin now you are talking great fights and excellent eats.

Nothing more exciting than seeing Volkswagen sized Bluefin swarming all around your chum line in a feeding frenzy. Well except hooking into one and seeing 200lb test line disappear from your Penn 130. I have hooked 3 and landed 1 that weighted 350lbs. 0 -

West of Walkers Kay in the Bahamas. Hammered them for about a week.My body was completely destroyed after catching at least 3 TONS of fish,in 4 days,I could fish no more.Biggest I got was right in the 400-420# class,he fell to a hand lined "Stick bait"..I had plenty help hauling on that monster.Actually made a few $$ of that trip too..[^]
I wouldn't mind doing that trip again but,I don't know if the Bahamian Gov. is allowing foreign commercial permitting anymore. This was in the late 80's..0 -
Yep, caught many Yellow Fin while fishing Cabo San Lucas waters. We have gone the last 4 years, and always have done well there. Big ones have run about 80lbs, small ones more in the 15lb range. Our best day was 28, other times less. We also get lots of Marlin, and Dorado (Mahi-Mahi). Sometimes a shark as seen in the first picture.

Oh yeah, I do catch the fish too granted, I don't have any good tuna pics uploaded on a valid url right now. Here's a couple of nice yellowtail my dad and I caught at Cedros though. I caught 19 marlin in two days on this trip. Tried everything to get below the billfish, but couldn't they were that hungry.

This was the slowest long range trip I have ever been on for tuna. The trip just before ours got several cows into the 300# range but the bite all but disappeared for us.

I did get a nice bull this trip though.
