Hi Could someone help me with a value of M1 Garand, Springfield Gov serial 314xxxx, very good condition, customer claims it was a honor gun. Thanks

  I can tell you that the receiver was made in August or September 1944 (I'd have to check a book to be exact). Other than that there is no where near enough information to give any kind of value.

  Picking up on the "honor gun" phrase, my guess is that he has what the US military calls a "drill rifle". These are rifles used by ROTC students & veterans organizations for drill, parade, & honor guard purposes; many, but not all, were selected for "drill" because they were worn/damaged to the point that they were unsafe to shoot anything other than blanks. These usually have a spot weld at the muzzle & where the barrel meets the receiver (you must remove the stock to see it).
  
  A drill rifle sold by the Civilian Marksmanship Program is probably worth $100-200 (for parts), regardless of condition.
  
  A drill rifle that came directly from a veterans organization is likely to still be titled to the US Government, & will eventually show up on the Treasury department "stolen gun" list.
