SPRINGFIELD RIFLE TRAPDOOR 1878

I am doing my first trapdoor gun and I need to know should the firing pin be loose and easy to move or should there be some drag to it. I am in despert need of this info and on the firing pin should the grove be up so the screw can move in the slot. When I got the gun it was in pieces from someone who thought he could figure it out. Surprise he didn't so he brought it to the neiborhood gunsmith.(forgive my spelling)

  It's 1873, not 1878. The 3 is rolled tightly and often looks like an 8. Some firing pins have springs and others do not but it should move freely.
