Identify this part

I got this in a bag with a Remington 11-48 carrier dog washer and three small pins. I do not see this in my 11-48 schematic. Is it for the
11-48?

    I need help identifying this part. It appears to be a firing pin assembly; it has a spring inside held in by a washer & pin.

    That is not for an M1.

    Mark thanks...glad you have a sense of humor too[:D] I did see a number of bands like that only one piece on the M1's though. They didn't have the cutout that you see on the original post though.

    Does this mean I don't get a star until I guess what it is??[;)]

    I know it's not from an M60 because that piece wouldn't allow you to change barrels quickly.

    The FR-7's and FR-8's I looked at had a solid band and no swivel on them.

    As long as we are making guesses, Ruger GB mini-14 front swivel?

    EDIT: still not the right one, but it is similar to a Spanish FR8 or FR7.

    It seemed easier in the long run to simply edit in that it was not for an M1 and save using one of the ten allowed posts. If I have to actually demonstrate it then we can also do it that way:

    NOPE
    The GB front swivel is on the gas block.

    I'll take a guess. Looks like it the same part, or close to, on a T37 Rifle, Pre-M-14 proto type. From the Small Arms of the World.

    Hoosier's guess is the best one I can come up with too, a T-37. I looked at a bunch of parts diagrams and that was the only one that had a sling swivel attached, and a lip for retaining a handguard.

    The T37 is a surprising guess but it shows that you guys can really dig up some odd info. One thing wrong with the T37 idea, besides the fact that they are so rare that it would be virtually impossible to find a near mint component part (or any part) for a T37 anywhere outside of Rock Island or the Springfiled Armory NHS:

    The T37 sling swivel is attached with a screw, just like the one that retains the front swivel on an M1 rifle and there is no screw on that swivel.

    I don't know what the thing is but I am convinced that it is in no way related to any rifle design based on the M1-M14 series. what I find very interesting is that the two holes, top and bottom, appear to be for all practical purposes, identical in size.
