Need scope help!!

Hello..I'm new to long range shooting and will be going through long range shooting school (basic precision shootin; basic sniping; advance sniping with stalking; urban sniping) within..I just bought a new 700 model..that being said I need a mildot scope on first focal plane under $1600..has to be variable strength and should be tough enough to handle rough handling (tactical situations)..to tell you guys the truth most of my shooting experiences has been with carbines, pistols and 870..so far only forums have educated me thus far..So please take it easy on me..Thank you..

    Night Force and IOR are the first 2 that come to mind in the $1500 range.

    Your price range is a bit shy for the better scopes on the market and you will not be able to find a Nightforce NSX for that price, however that is nothing to worry about.

    Look at the Leupold Mark 4 series, I would suggest the 6.5-20X50 for your application:

    You can also look at the Nikon Monarch X 4-16X50:

    Another great choice would be the Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44:

    He said FIRST FOCAL PLANE reticle, so that leaves out NightForce...at least in the price range you have stated. They have an FFP reticle glass, but it is over the price range you are looking for. I would talk to Alex at Eurooptic.com, if I were you. He can set you up splendidly. You might have to budge on your upper limit of price, as the bases and rings to do this will cost arount $250.00-300.00 by themselves.

    You might be able to get into a Leupold MK 4 FFP for that.

    Leave the Leupold for the other folks as it's over-priced and under delivered. Nightforce is double your price range and Nikon isn't sufficient.

    I just bought 3 of the Vortex above plus a new U.S. Optics SN-3, 3.8-22x for upcoming competition rifles.

    Spend the big bucks once for the long range gun. You put all that money into the rifle, so you might as well make it perform. Go with a Nightforce, or another high end optic.

    Nononsense helped me a couple years ago with my long range rem. Sendero sf ll and nightforce scope, so if he say's vortex is the way to go then I would listen to him... He was on spot with my $3100 long range set up!

    Yeah..I actually just emailed vortex for their input about which scope to get. I'm just awaiting their reply. I will also try to contact Eurooptics and ask them for their inputs tomorrow morning. I'm not trying to be stingy about the price of optics. It is just quite baffling why it is so hard to find a decent FFP variable scope within the $1600 value. Now if i can find a scope that is over $1600 that will definitely show it merits my hard earned money, I will buy it in a heartbeat. I was just hoping someone here can show me a cheaper alternative that will work and might overdo a scope in the upper $2000 range. thanks
