1 in 8 twist bullet weight in .223?

What is everyones experience is weight of bullet that a gun with this twist can shoot in a .223. I like the idea of being able to shoot a heavier bullet farther but also curious how light i can get without loosing accuracy. Thanks.

    You'll have to factor in the bullet shape as well as the weight. Long pointy bullets will run out of twist long before round or blunt nosed ones will. (even though they are of the same weight) 80grs is about the limit.

    Each rifle/barrel is its own individual. My RRA will do OK with the 55 grainer's, but the 40, 45 and 50 grainers are noticibly worse. It gets good with the 60's, and great with the 62-75 grainer's. I have not gone above 75 grain Hornady BTHPM's.

    I will tell you that with the Barnes TSX bullets in 62, and 70 grains that I have loaded on top of Reloader-15, the groups are PHENOMINAL(1/4MOA).

    My Rem. 700 with a Douglas 1-8 twist just puts 69 and 77gr. Sierras in one hole. It,s not too bad with 62gr. Like said, if you can get a longer lighter bullet, they should do OK.
