Did FN make an all Belgium not Portugal HP in 1989

I just bought a Hi Power off of Gunbroker. It was manufacture in 1989 per Browning's listing of serial numbers and manufacture dates.

It was advertised as "BROWNING HI POWER 9MM ALL BELGIAN". and marked "BROWNING SA MADE IN BELGIUM" with no other indications.

After reading some other posts it seems that Browning did have, or might have had some Hi Powers assembled in Portugal at that time but not marked so. Anyone know if I have an unmarked Portuguese assembled pistol or one manufacture wholly in Belgium?

    Your HP WAS wholly manufactured in Belgium, and it experienced final assembly in Portugal.

    Whether marked "Made in Belgium Assembled in Portugal" or just "Made in Belgium" a 1989 Hi Power would have been assembled in Portugal.

    I have three Hi Powers with the "Browning S.A." rollmark that were manufactured after 1989.

    The only FN Hi Powers with the "Assembled in Portugal" rollmark are those imported by Browning Arms. No one has ever given a reason why, some think it may have been a misunderstood US law regarding import marks.
