Can a winchester model 12 12 gauge 2 3/4" chamber be modified ( have chamber lenghtened) to shoot 3" shells
The reason i ask is i own a model 12 roit gun (watts commemorative edition[:D]) which is in like new condition. I would like to purchase a extra barrel/ mag, forearm which i see a lot of on ebay. I would like to have a spare duck gun realize the new set up will have to be fitted .What i really wanted was a 12 heavy duck

Hello Eric,
Serial number 115885 was the last Model 1912 serialized in January of 1915. Your gun was undoubtedly fully assembled and in the warehouse in February of 1915.
I would not recommend doing anything to the gun at this point, especially if it is a 20 or 16 gauge gun.
If you can, please post several pictures of it, and tell us what gauge it is.0 -
It is a 12g and has been sitting since 1974 according to the guy i got it off of.The gun it self looks all original but is in kind rough shape receiver is rusted a bit and possibly pitted, barrel has some rust on it and the forend is cracked, the stock has a chip out of it on the bottom back by the buttplate and after looking it is missing the cartridge cut-off... will post pic if i can figure out how to do it LOL... and thanks for the reply s.got it off the guy for 30 dollars and though i couldnt go wrong with an older winchester!!!!! 0 -
Eric,
This explains how to post pictures on the GB forums - http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=259294
Being that it is a 12-gauge, it might be worth the effort and expense to clean it up and refinish it, but then again, you might not fully recover your costs. Frankly, you would be better off selling it as is, as I am quite sure that you can get more then $30 for it.0
