ANY NEW YORK STATE FFL's here ?
I see on auction side NY based FFL's selling guns (Glock etc..)with Hi Cap mags.. My question is how do you get them in to sell them when I was under the impression that you can not legally possess a post ban magazine in NYS with a larger than 10 round magazine.

I have asked the shipper in the past, if they can exchange the magazines for NYS compliant ones, when shipping to me. Same goes for AR-15's, AR-10's, AK-47(though there are so many pre-ban magazines still out there and available).
The guys selling the hi-caps here in NY, are not selling to the NY resident's. In case you have not heard, there is a big thing going on in Rochester, where the Feds are interviewing an arms dealeer/distributor, over some banned drum magazines that were made in China, for the AK-47. It is growing into an international thing.

I want to know how this dealer can get these Glock's here in NY to sell with the HI cap mags ?
Which distributor are you talking about Amchar, RSR or Biekirch's ?0 -
Dealers, gunsmiths, LEOs, LEAs, companies fulfilling defense contracts, etc are exempt from that provision of the law. Of course, they can't transfer post ban mags to ordinary civilians.

EDIT: I'm not a lawyer, but I did sleep in the dumpster behind BATFE headquarters last night. I go by NYS law as reprinted in ATF P5300.5; the state AG & NYSP have additional rulings, some of them unwritten. And, you may have to convince your distributor that you plan only legal resale. Flayderman, John Jovino, & others in NY worked around the restrictions.0 -
MFI, you have e-mail. 0 -
Neal, So if I am a dealer in NYS I can get anything I want from the distributors including hi capacity GLock's and AR's with 30 round mags.. The only stipulation would be that I cant sell them to anyone in NY or any states that cant legally possess them ? 0 -
I know a NY State dealer who sells hi-cap mags. He says they aren't illegal to own; they're just illegal when you put them in your gun! 0 -
Im just curious how these dealers get them.. All my distribs say "restricted for NY on any of these hi cap guns".. 0 -
Not a NY FFL, but would imagine they get them the same way a CA FFL gets handguns that are not on the CA DOJ list- they can sell them to FFL holders in other states. 0
