Old gun trading???????
I want to trade a beretta 1919 made in 1949, for a beretta 948 made in 1955. Can we just exchange? They are both over 50 years old. Both parties live in separate states, so shipping will be involved. Thank you.

As long as you use FFL dealers on both ends, it shouldn't be a problem. 0 -
As Spider said- when ownership of a firearm is being transferred (sale, trade, gift) across a state line, it must be received by a FFL dealer in the home state of the recipient. If it was made before 1899, it is an antique, and dealer not required. 50 years old is NOT an antique for guns. 0 -
50 years old is not an antique, but it does make it a relic, so if both people interested in trading have a Curio and Relic Federal Firearm License, then the trade is OK between them without anyone else getting involved, correct? 0 -
Yes, an 03 C&R FFL holder can receive a firearm from out of state- that is the purpose of having it. There ARE some states that place restrictions on a C&R holder receiving handguns- CA and NY being two that come to mind.
However, the OP did not say anything about C&R, which is why I did not bring it up.0
