Shotgun parts question?
I recently acquired a Harington & Richardson .410 Topper Jr. Model 480 single shot shotgun. The butt pad/plate is missing on the stock. I was wanting to repair this and give it to my nephew. I have searched the web for the butt pad/plate and cant find one. Does anyone have any info on where to get one? I dont want him shooting it with the wood stock resting on his shoulder. Thanks in advance.

If you can't find a original, get one of the slip on butt pads. Some are made of rubber and are a friction fit over the rear portion of the butt stock. Others have a velcro band that secures the butt pad to the stock. 0 -
Look into a company called "Vintage Gun Grips". They make reproduction buttplates and grip caps. Midway USA also sells their products and you can find them on their website. That would be a good route if you wanted to find an original replacement.
If you just want a buttplate for it, any can be used. A lot of gun shops sell universal plastic plates for $5-10. Or just go with a Stevens 311 style plate. They are pretty generic.0 -
I have a box full of old butt plates. May have some with H & R on them. Probably not the correct one but will say H & R on it. If I have one, you can have it if you want it. (This is not an offer to sell., you can have it for nothing) 0 -

Thanks, the approximate length of the one I am looking for is 4 and 5/16" with 3 inch screw holes center to center. Most I find are bigger.0 -
