If they need to be retapped you'll most likely have to drill and go a tiny bit larger than original.

The magazine stop screw should be threaded 6x40TPI. This is a dog point screw with a reduced portion on the end that goes into the magazine tube. You will probably need a bottoming type tap to clean up the threads as a taper tap has too long of a taper to work as there are only 3 or 4 threads before reaching the reduced diameter of the dog point hole. An option would be to drill the reduced diameter out with tap drill for 6x40 and tap through the magazine tube and trim a 6x40 screw so it does't interfere with the follower. Note that the original screw has larger diameter head than a standard 6x40 screw.

JIM REHM..Thanks..I am on top of it now..After removing magazine tube I see that the hole in receiver is made for dog point screw...I have 6-40 bottom tap,and see what you mean by only a few threads before tap bottoms out..threads maybe OK now,but need the correct screw[wish me luck] Any one have suggestions ...Numerich [gunparts corp] lists but is out of stock, and I cannot find one even listed anywhere else 6-40
