Worlds Fair single barrel shotgun

I found a single barrel shotgun,with the name Worlds Fair on the reciever.Does anybody have a idea who made it,are what years they made it. Bill

    "Worlds Fair" was a trade name used by Hopkins & Allen of Norwich, Ct. on shotguns between 1902 & 1914.

    You're welcome. There were thousands of various "trade name" shotguns in the early 20th century, primarily made by American and Belgian companies.

    Spider is correct. I've been collecting "Trade Brand Names" since 1977 and have collected over 850 names that were used between 1880 and 1940 and that's just American made guns. Throw in the foreign names and there are well over 1,000. By the way, on guns made after 1945, I call them "Store Brand Names as most of them were made for major store chains like Sears Roebuck and Montgomery-Ward. The best name I've come across is ACME & PLAIN GUN SCREW KIT PAT DEC 15-91, AUG 11-96 & MAY 27-02. This one was made by the W.H. Davenport Arms Company. Just found the name, haven't found a gun yet.

    Ned, You are the man i want to talk to.I have been collecting single shots,for a few years,and have over 100.What fascinates me is the names,and the history of the guns.I have bought some of them, just for the name.Is there any books you can recommend,to help identify the guns i have.Mostly interested inTrade Brand Names and Store Brand Names.Also is there any forums,websites or clubs dedicated ,just to single barrel shotguns. Thank you, Bill
