Identify this magazine tube assembly
I need help identifying this magazine tube assembly. The tube itself measures about 25 inches long; with the knob on one end and the shell follower sticking out on the other it is about 26 1/8 inches overall. The outside diameter is about 0.65" and the inside diameter is about 0.540". A 44-40 cartridge fits nicely inside; I couldn't locate a .410 shotshell but I think it would work. The knob end is knurrled and has a thumbpiece that releases the round block inside the tube. I think this would allow the tube to be pulled out about 3/4 inch, possibly allowing a takedown rifle to be taken down. The pin sticking out probably needs to be driven through to secure the knob inside the tube. Look at the pictures and give me your thoughts. All info will be appreciated.

Looks like Marlin to me but lets see if others think it is a marlin 0 -
Its a Marlin tube. The tube release on the tube looks like the ones on two of the rifles I have prior to 1920 and the outer tube pull out in lieu of the inner when loading.

Any other ideas? It seems to me that this could only be pulled out about 3/4', not far enough to facilitate loading. Maybe far enough to clear the follower from the receiver, allowing the two halves of a takedown to be turned and separated? 0 -
Sorry, your magazine is for a larger lever action and the rounds load thorugh the receiver into the tube and the front of the magazine is held in pace with a stud. I was thinking about the .22 model that has to pull apart to load. I do think it is Marlin and the condition and color look to be off an older rifle.
Sorry, for misleading you!
