Came across this broom handle, figured I would share it with everyone see if anyone knew anything about it.
Thanks in advance!
Figured it would be easier to post this album instead of try and individually post all the pictures

Interesting Mauser, never saw one with a 1914 date before? Picture #7 just below the hammer, the small marking appears to be one of the old German "Fractor?" letters that were used as German military acceptance markings during the First World War.
If the marking is the "Fractor?" letter, this would identify the Mauser as being one of the Kaiser's Imperial Army's pistols; making it a very desirable to a W W I arms collector.0 -
Where would you suggest I look to find out if that is a german fractor marking or not? I forgot a few pictures when I posted that album up

Do you think that the stock is real/correct? I never remember seeing that Mauser Logo smashed into the back of one before0 -

Kind of questionable? At the very least it has been sanded. Most I remember seeing in the past had a much darker coloring, and the Mauser marking appears to be kind of crude.0 -
My stock is MUCH darker wood but looks exactly the same as to the metal 0 -
The whole rig looks a little suspect to me. What obvious reason would the Germans have to put the "1914" on the frame. No German requirement that I know off officially or unofficially.
The stock is crude, the wrong wood, and the Mauser "barrel" marking has been recently, within the past ten years, stamped. Also, the metal fittings should be blued, not painted, and the fit should be better.
There have been a few C96's with the date. The one Kaiser Bill fired in 1914, but it gave a whole lot more info than just the date. A few presentation pieces, but they said who, what, and why.
While a nice to play with rig, someone was screwing around.0 -
When I was in my early teens (OK, that's 50+ years ago!), I built a gun box for all my stuff, and put silhouettes of favorite (but not-yet-bought)firearms. One was a Broomhandle. Years later, bought a Chinese-made, and when I fired it, as many parts flew off as out the barrel (sigh). Sold it as soon as I could.
So yeah....that's a piece of junk. I'll take it off your hands for a hunsky....[;)]
Moderator: my foray into my youthful memories shouldn't count as one of the 10 posts, OK?!0
