J.Stevens 520?????
This gun was given to me many years ago with the idea that it didn't work. Later I took it to my smith, who cleaned it, and said it works fine. I've never fired it so I don't know. SN is 5915, and seems to match every where. Some of the descriptions I find indicate that it was made in 1902, and that Stoeger was involved in some way. The Bbl. is 12 ga., full choke, and is 30". Left side of receiver says "J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co., Chicopee Falls, Mass."----"Browning PAT. Feb 7 1905, and Aug. 27, 1907. Gun has a little "trap door" on top of the receiver, and an apparent safety inside the trigger guard, in fron of the trigger.

J.Browning designed it for Stevens in the early 20th Century. I believe they went into production around 1906/07. They remained in production when Savage bought out Stevens in 1920. Were made as late as W W II, as a Trench Gun for the U.S. military. There descent guns, but very little collector demand/value. My WAG, if it is functional and the cosmetics are OK, your looking at maybe $150-$250. 0
