I have this 1917 Remington Enfield, the bore is excellent, but it is hard to extract fired cartridges.I can just barely see some rough spots in the chamber. Is there anything I can do besides having it rechambered?

More then likely the chamber in the rifle now can be cleaned & polished To a point that it will be smooth enough to extract fired cases. 0 -
They sell chamber brushes. Soak with bore bore cleaner(s). 0 -
Most likely you can smooth the chamber by a good cleaning with a brass .30-06 chamber brush & solvent. An M1 rifle chamber brush has a ratchet that you use to rotate the brush with a USGI cleaning rod.
If this doesn't smooth the chamber adequately, the next step would be to use patches with auto polishing compound. If you can rig a flexible rod to an electric drill, that will speed the job.
If the chamber is actually pitted, the barrel may Nealneed to be replaced.
