winchester 1892
I received a model 1892 in 38wcf from a friend who passed away recently. Very smooth lever action, octagon barrel, full magazine, solid frame, metal crescent butt plate, lots of scratching on the wood, the finish on the receiver is good, the rifle could use some good cleaning overall, manufactured in 1897. Any idea what this is worth?
Thanks in advance.

Just received a winchester 1892 that I bought. The barrel is drilled and tapped for a scope which the pictures didn't show and buyer failed to mention. None of them came from the factory like that did they. 0 -
Nope. Post the auction to expose this injustice. 0 -

Well, You can say he did not post the pictures, but you also did not ask for them or any questions there of apparently. It does pay to know what you are looking for, and ask the proper questions. I personally would have not bid on that without more pictures, of my liking. If refused the pictures, I would not have bid. I guess that would be a lesson learned. Did you ask the seller about it after the gun was recieved?

I looked at the sellers feedback, and he has the same type complaints. Did you veiw his feedback history before you bid? I wouldnt bid on any firearm from any seller with that feedback. I am gonna go out on a limb and say you didnt look at this sellers feedback. This seller will have a short career on Gunbroker. 0 -
Deceptive but not fraudulent. Caveat Emptor. 0 -
Yep, deceptive. "Very good condition" implies just that. Please let us know how this turns out. I would rip him hard on feedback just like has already happend to him. And next time be more diligent. 0 -
I know I could have done more checking to tell the truth I didn't think my bid was high enough to get it. The rifle is in pretty good shape and shoots good so I'm ok with it for the price I paid I just think it was alittle dishonest. 0 -

I did read the feedback but took a chance my bad0 -
Deceptive is right since the novice usually has little to no knowledge and/or experience with grading standards. For example, a grading of Very Good according to one grading system might be "seriously" different from that of another, most especially, where the bore is concerned. This said, if you were expecting an all original piece with with x-amount of finish to the metal and wood, and a bore near excellent, then you should have asked questions to this end, and gotten the answers in writing along with an inspection period, plus all details concerning a return policy. As a matter of fact, I have been known to request an unconditional inspection period that will allow me to return the merchandise for a full refund less shipping and insurance fees when I don't have the greatest assurance on a deal.
Now, can you post pictures of the rifle that show the holes?0 -
"Deceptive"?????
My opinion is that you folks are treating the seller here with far more respect and courtesy than he deserves.
I have other words for this kind of individual...none of which I can relate here.

Report him to support. He could have easily shown the extra holes, but carefully kept them out of the camera frame. 0
