The one photo hand written is a duplicate of what is stated on the gun itself. Thanks in advance for your help!

I for one am not sure what your asking or looking for ? 0 -
I believe you're looking for maker, history, value, and just general information on this family/class of gun. I am no expert on guns of this type. I will make one comment. I do not believe it is normal for the locking cross bolt to protrude like that when the gun is closed. 0 -
Your correct, if the bolt does'nt move into place then the gun is not locked when closed. It should be a easy repair, quality of the gun looks good and I beleive its English as I see the British proof mark of the Crown. 0 -
If none of our folks can help with more specific information, you might post to shotgun specific web-sites. Because of the strict gun laws in Europe, sporting shotguns are much more easily collected then rifles or handguns. A number of European collectors frequent these sites because of this. It's been a while since I have been on these forums but I believe their names were "Shotgun World" and "Double Gun Journal". GOOGLE these names for a start to see if you can locate them, to get identification and valuation help for your German shotgun. 0 -
i am looking to find out more about the gunmaker (paul strube), the history of the gun, and value. also i dont know the year the gun was made, there is nothing visible on the gun to tell me . (frustrating).
the gun was not all the way closed that is why the cross bolt was protruding. also the crown is followed by a u which i think is german. one thing i dont understand is why the eagle is above the crown u. i am having alot of trouble finding out anything about this gun.0 -

Your hand drawn sketch of the markings unfortunately is very hard to decipher. A quality photo would be much easier to identify.
The small eagle above the Crown U is the German preliminary proof mark, used on all firearms between 1891 and 1939.
The German proof laws weren't changed until after the First World War in the 1920's, adding a date to the proof marks.0 -
You might find some info here.

Beautiful 16 btw.0 -
if you can view the tenth picture enlarged, it will show the markings perfectly... it also will have 1836 on the other side.
thanks0 -
IMHO, the 11/25 marking on the bottom of the barrel is the proof date, i.e. November 1925.
The number on the Watertable is the serial number.
