99% of Wells Fargo guns are fake. If it's actually marked "Wells Fargo" rather than "WF & Co", it's most likely fake as well.

This thread shows you how to post pictures here in the forum:

    http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=259294

This is from Wells Fargo's website:

    http://blog.wellsfargo.com/guidedbyhistory/2009/04/fakes.html

"As to guns, Wells Fargo never had guns made. Armed personnel supplied their own equipment. Of course, one never knows what might turn up out there, but it's pretty safe to say that your firearm with the Wells Fargo markings is not authentic."

Because of literally thousands of fake guns falsely attributed to Wells Fargo & Company, most collectors won't touch one unless it has documented, irrefutable provenance.

I'm not expert on them but it looks TOO well marked to be legit.

Well, I can't say either way. It almost looks "overdone" but if you go to the link below, it's a section of the book "A history of Remington". On the Chapter 4 page, it pictures a shotgun titled "Wells Fargo Remington Hammer Shotgun" that looks just like yours:

    http://books.google.com/books?id=jAmkAvoUKIEC&pg=PA100&lpg=PA100&dq=wells+fargo+remington+shotgun&source=bl&ots=44ZPmlSyQV&sig=W8jCWiR8KvYCfnIK13aLkpL2dyQ&hl=en&ei=dqozTbShHYet8Ab5j6nrCA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CB8Q6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=wells%20fargo%20remington%20shotgun&f=false

You're welcome and good luck in your further research. If it was mine, I would get a copy of that book showing the picture.

If Wells Fargo has not changed its strick policies.

My opinion is it looks authentic. Or a very good forgery.

From the Wells Fargo website: https://www.wellsfargo.com/about/history/faqs

FAQ #10. How do I know if the Wells Fargo markings on an antique shotgun are real?
"Wells Fargo" marked shotguns have become a problem among collectors of antique firearms. In general, each town's Well Fargo Agent bought weapons from local stores carrying whatever was available - it was not a central headquarters function. Just as with companies today, Wells Fargo's offices did not keep outdated records. Therefore, there are no comprehensive lists of Wells Fargo firearms.

Additionally, in recent years, many people have added "Wells Fargo" to actual antique weapons. All of this makes it very difficult to know whether any shotgun currently for sale was or was not used by Wells Fargo, regardless of the markings. For further information, you may check the book by James Bartz, Company Property, (the Westbound Stage, 1993), for sale at http://www.westboundstage.com.
