John Stimpson is a expert on High Standard firearms. The forum on his web-site is a gold mine of information. If none of our folks can help with your questions, you might consider posting over there.

The pin in the frame holds the crane/cylinder in, its spring loaded so push in as far as possible and at the same time pull/wiggle the cylinder/crane out, the pin will stay in place and not come out. Reassemble, push the pin in and slide the crane back into place and realease the pin after the crane is seated, you'll feel/hear it click in place. High Standards are very nice double actions, and well built. I have the DOUBLE-NINE and love it ! The grips are probably original to your pistol and I would'nt try to change them.

I got mine down to ckeck and it also does what yours is doing so I guess its a design flaw. Any way it locks up good and if you hold the pistol off sideways and look at the space between the cyl. and the frame its spaced even and thats really what matters( top and bottom ). The cyl. is in straight and level and flush to the barrel. Could be that it has'nt been shot/used much, I know mine is vertually new condition so take that as a good sign.[:)]

Thats great, You'll love it I'm sure and also the double action is a plus though the trigger pull is kinda hard but nothing is perfect.
