Is it true one manufacture makes all the 17 HMR ammo?

    CCI actually loads all of the .17 HMR ammunition for the CCI, Federal, Hornady, and Remington brands. However, the ammunition is loaded with different bullets to different specifications.

    Babun. That is what I heard. But your answer raises another question. Different specifications for different bullet weight or the same bullet weight? Would all the 17 gr bullets be loaded to the same velocity?

    As I don't shoot the .17, I can not chrono it. I am finding that CCI doesn't want to say much about them loading other people's ammo. Perhaps some one here can run a comprehension test of the ammos out there?? Bob

    Babun, I have only chrono'd two different 17 HMR 17 gr ammo, Hornady and CCI. Velocity difference was with the SD for either ammo. So my limited test would say they are identical.
