Ruger LCP feeding prob
I have a Ruger LCP that won't feed reliably. After firing a round, The second round will get "Stopped" half way into the chamber. I can give the back of the slide a little tap and it will finish the cycle. It might do this once per mag or every round. I have dropped a round into the chamber and closed the slide several times before putting a mag in. Have I screwed up the extractor? Any other ideas.

Semi-auto,s are made to have the rim of the shell slide up under the extractor then into the chamber. You might have burred or bent the tip of it.
Try some polishing compound on the feed ramp and then see what it does.0 -
Hi,
My humble advice would be to fire several hundred rounds through the pistol. Sometimes the ramp and throat needs be smoothed out and broken in. I also agree changing ammo and/or the magazine. If problems persist, then return the pistol to the Ruger.
Best wishes,

I've seen the Kel-Tec 3at (which the Ruger is a clone of) do the exact same thing. Note that LOTS of these guns (Ruger and KelTec) are simply NOT reliable out of the box.
First of all, before doing ANYTHING else, take down the gun, clean it thoroughly, apply a SMALL amount of lube to the rails, and try again.
Next step, try a different type of ammo, and make sure its BALL ammo (not hollow points).
These guns DO take a bunch of rounds fired to wear down the rough spots and function more smoothly.
Unfortunately, .380 ammo isn't cheap enough to put a few hundred rounds through painlessly, though you can get the same effect by CAREFUL polishing of the throat and ramp area with some polishing compound. You can also manually work the slide back and forth a hundred times or so to ensure that any high spots are worn down.
If NONE of these things work, you'll have to send it back to Ruger.0 -
Clean it, lube it, change the brand of ammo(mine feeds 100% with Hornady Critical Defense--shaped like fmj but expands like a hollowpoint)-and don't just drop a cartridge into the chamber & trip the slide lock to load it. If you want to carry with a round in the chamber stick a magazine in, pull the slide all the way back and let it go. Pull the mag out and top it off, put it back in the gun. Others on some other forums I go to had similar problems because they were just dropping a round into the chamber-once they started loading it from a magazine & pulling the slide back the problem went away. 0 -

Critical Defense is a hollow point, but it has a rubber plug in the cavity... not really shaped like an FMJ...
Federal Expanding Full Metal Jacket ammo is FMJ with a polymer filled cavity hollow point underneath... these have an outward apperarance and shape of a ball round but expand like hollow points.
Another option would be Corbon PowRBall... a hollowpoint with a polymer ball in the cavity which gives outward shape of an FMJ to aid feeding.0
