Ruger Mini 30 Question

I have a Ruger Mini 30. I mounted the Ruger factory mounts and then went to lap them in. The lap on made contact with the back bottom of both rings. The front bottom made no contact with either ring. I could fit a business card thickness between the scope ring and the lap easily. What is going on?

  I would say that the machining fixture they machined the ring in was not adjusted properly. I would return those rings to RUGER.

  I don't think they are machined. Looks more like a precision casting or forging process made them.
