Winchester Experts/collectors?
I've seen in the past, owned one, and continue to watch for them. Why is the Winchester Model 54 always way way lower than the later and less rare "pre-'64" models?

Like everything else, demand drives value. There is much more collector interest in the Model 70's, then Model 54's. 0 -
I feel the same thing happens with many collectibles. The price peaks some where 40-60 years after they were popular. It is when an item that was your Dads or Grandfathers and they always prized that item .Then when it is available but limited numbers and you are in your 50's -70's and have money to spend on toys. Now when there are fewer people that even remember SEEING an Item there are fewer buyers and UNLESS the item is MINT the mid grade condition ones go begging . Look at prices of Ford Model T and Model A. They don't bring what they did 20 years ago. The only thing I can think of to change this is if a hobby or sport becomes popular. Cowboy action shooting comes to mind . then Old Winchester and Colt took another BOOST . Just my $.02 YMMV 0 -
I agree with the above,,as the hunting people age,,imo,,,firearms in general will continue to diminish. In the next couple generations, I don't see value increasing in any firearm for he simple fact there will a lot less interest in them... 0
