Buy or not to buy?

I found a S&W 629 with an 8 3/8" barrel. The revolver is in better that 95% condition and has both original grips & Houge grips, but no box. Also included is over 300 rounds of ammo. Seller is asking $600.00 but may take less (I have not made an offer yet).
Anyway, I figure the ammo is worth $150.00, making the revolver a $450.00 gun. Does this seem like a decent deal?

    OK, I guess it's unanimous... I'll have to get in touch with him tomorrow.

    I thought it was a pretty decent deal, judging by the recent sales prices on the auction side, but thought I would inquire anyway. It's not my favorite size gun, but the barrel length may make it more manageable for me.

    Not for him. . .[;)]

    (IE Buy it. . .).

    Only caveat is make sure its factory ammo, not reloads. Buying someone elses reloads isn't a good idea.

    Thanks for the advise regarding the ammo. It's still in the box and most of the ammo is Winchester.

    Which model 629 is it? If it has both factory grips, is it the classic? At any rate, I would have been telling the guys about my new to me revolver, instead of asking them if I should buy it. I don't like to take the chance of someone else finding it...hehehehe.

    Just one thought; is the ammo factory or handloads. I have always had a great deal of reluctance firing other people's handloads if I didn't watch them load.
