marlin model 92 " a little help would be great"
well had a few questions about a marlin model 92 i found in a basement.Looks as if all parts are there and not pitted or rusted well mabey a little surface rust.First off in looks like the firing pin is missing a spring because when the rifle is cycled you firing pin pops out and just slide back in.stock is a little loose.there are no markings on the barrel as to what caliber this rifle is ,i ran a .22 though it and it chambered it just fine.if any one knows anything about these rifles any info would be great.Serial # is on lower receiver on bottom and the # is 39992**.Left last to numbers out

These are non take down rifle and are one of the evolutions to the Model 39A rifle of today. I have found a few of the older Marlins that if left setting someone ends up buying or taking parts out of them to repaair other rifles. With out seeing the rifle it very hard to tell how much it is worth and how original it is. Parts for these can be hard to find while others quite easy. The rifle should not be fired with modorn ammo or the bolt can be cracked, you could shoot some low power sub sonic rounds in it that is up to you.

Good, luck with your find!
