Remington 798---Mauser action ? Part 2
Just wanted to thank all for their suggestions and knowledge. The factory ammo was a 405 grain RNSP made by Remington I believe. I made a couple of dummy rounds and have been running them through(as well as oiling the crap out of it) and that seems to really be working on cleaning up the burrs and smoothening everything out. I think it will be good. Any suggestions on a place I could send this off to and get the barrel chopped down(correctly) and possibly even have the action slicked up a little?
tsr1965,
You made a very good point about manualing placing a cartridge in the chamber and closing the bolt. I have owned(and currently own 1) Ruger rifles and I should have known better from them. That would probably explain the shaving of the rim on the 1 cartridge I did that with.
