AR 1/9 twist 80 gr bullet

i know the 1/9 is good up around 68-70 gr

just how bad would an 80gr be out of a short barrel carbine.



asking because I'm working on a deal on some 80gr pretty cheep

  One in seven would be best...not sure if the longer 80 grain pill would be able to stabilize?

  Wishing and hoping won't make it so.
  
  Unfortunately, your 80 grain VLD bullets will require a 1:8" twist at least. This is predicated on the lack of velocity gained from the 5.56 case and the length of the bullet. The 1:9" just can't get it to stabilized enough.

  Depends on the distance. Very close... perhaps OK (20yrds). Or perhaps less but better than a smooth bore musket.
