94 Winchester Frozen Lever
Just got a 94 Winchester, post 64 model, with a lever that is frozen(stuck) in the closed position. Lever will only move a few degrees. I have no history on the gun. Any idea as to what is wrong and how to fix?
Thanks

stick a rod down the muzzleas far as it will go mark it remove and place along side of barreled action to determine if there is a stuck case in the chamber. also check to make sure the lever pin is all the way by removing the screw or the left side of the receiver. if the wrong screw was used that pin could work its way out into the screw hole and you will not be able to open the action 0 -
Is a scope or mounts on the rifle? Ran into a 30-30 with screws too long in the mount, dragged on the "bolt". 0 -
Paul,
The guys have given you good advice. There could be a few more things to check. One that comes to mind is a loose, or bent, loading gate. The loading gate CAN interfere with the guts of the gun. You could also have a loose cartridge guide. Check all of the screws on the outside of the receiver for tightness.
EDIT:
Here is a very good tutorial on taking apart a Post-64 Model 94, with nice photographs, too:

Junior did an excellent job.[;)]0 -
Had the same thing with a Marlin. The screw that holds the loading gate was just loose. 0 -
Mystery solved!
When I removed one of the screws I noticed there was a very heavy coat of wax on the gun. The wax had dried out. The rear end of the link and the block were "glued" to the frame. I finally got them to break free.
Thanks for your help.
