WINCHESTER 94-22 LOOSE MAGAZINE ROD.

I have a Winchester 94-22 22lr Trapper rifle and the magazine rod is loose and won't secure the knurled knob securely to the tube when the magazine is empty.
There was a small metal clip attached to it when new but has been lost. It took up the slack and allowed the the knob to fit snugly. Now when empty the tube can fall out of the magazine tube when lowered.

I hear that a O ring can be used but don't know what size to get.

Any suggestions?

    I would like to assume that you've already answered your question.

    Never, ever adjust existing parts, when a broken, (or in this case, missing) part is needed to make the fix, unless you can't get, or have fabricated the broken/missing part.
