I don't believe there is any current brass that can be reformed. You will probably have to buy new brass from Bertram. This brass has a diameter similar to 43 Egyptian and 11 MM Beaumont, neither of which can be made from current production brass. 0 -
My old Lyman book says use .348 Winchester, full length size, trim to 1.87" and fire form. 0 -
Buffalo Arms makes them out of Starline .50-90.

They don't say how much forming is required and I don't have the dimensions to look it up for you.0 -
Get in touch with Dave Casey at Rocky Mountain Cartridge and have him make you some brass - http://www.rockymountaincartridge.com/ 0 -
I have made many cases for this round out of .348 Win cases, but now I buy them from Jamison. Basically I trimmed the 348 cases just over the length of the the 45-75 cases using a dremel and a cut off wheel. Next, I opened the case neck area to accept a .375 roundball (Made an expander but you could probably use a 38-55 expander???), and fireformed the case using Pyrodex RS (take all safety precautions...Hodgon says not to leave an airspace when using pyrodex). After this first fireform I annealed the neck area and sized the case in the 45-75 dies then trimmed to correct length and fireformed a second time, this time using a 45-75 lead bullet and Pyrodex RS again. The case was done at this point but needed neck annealing again. Some people mention that if you use the 348 Win case you have to thin the rim thickness (I would assume in the front of the rim so you dont reduce the primer pocket depth), but that was not an issue in my Chaparral. I get about 10 loading with these cases before neck splits occur, so I neck anneal maybe every 8 firings. Again, now that Jamison has the brass I dont bother making them anymore. Jamison DOES have thinner rims and it led to misfires with my gun. I have to neck size only when using Jasmison brass so my cartridges now headspace on the shoulder instead of the rim. 0 -
