Iver Johnson
Anyone no what model and what years they were made?
On the barrel its says 20 guage choke bore barrel and lug forged in one. On the receiver it says Iver Johnson's Arms & cycle works Fitchburg Mass USA
I think the Locking Bolt Spring is broken.

I inherited an Iver Johnson Cadet .22 pistol Model 55-sa from my father-in-laws estate. It appears to be in very good cond. Does anyone out there know any approximate values? Anything will help. Thanks. 0 -
B Goforth is the man to ask.
Without pics its hard to say much about it baseline #'s vary on condition the range is $150.-250.0 -
I have a Ford Mustang. I can't post pics of it but it weights between 3000 and 5000 pounds, has a blue paint job, it's in nice condition. What is it and what's it worth?
See how vague that is.......[:(]
Pretty much all Iver Johnson's have the grips you describe. There are 3 series of Iver Johnsons, with multiple variations of each. If you absolutely cannot post pics, you need to be more detailed (though b.Goforth might know the serial, I suspect that number was used more than once on different series of guns).
For instance, is this a gun with a hammer or hammerless? What are the markings on the top of the barrel? Are there any numbers on the trigger gaurd? What's the condition of the gun? What does the latch look like, is it a break open revolver? If so, is the latch actuated by grabbing on both sides, or by rotating a lever on one side up and then breaking open? What is written on the bottom of the strap by the grips if anything (outside)? 5 shot? .32 S&W or .32 S&W long?
Lots of stuff to know, they are fascinating little guns.0 -
It is a break top and has an external hammer. Other than the serial number the only thing I can find is on the top of the barrel, which is Iver Johnson Arms and Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Mass U.S. AG. The second line is Pat'd April 6 86 Beb. 15 87 May 10 87 March 13 88 Aug 25 96 Pat's Pending. The hammer, trigger and latch for the barrel is case hardened and the rest of the gun is blue. It is very tight, with no pitting and almost looks unfired. 0 -
This pistol is a 32 S & W, not a long. The latch has the back sight in it and has two ears to lift it up for opening. Yes, they are fascinating and I wanted one "just to have one" for a while. 0 -
I have one of these pistols. Bill Goforth told me what it is and when it was built. The pistol was a gift from a friend. Built between 1892 and 1894. Black powder only. Cute little devil chambered in .32 S & W short. Not much bigger than a derringer. The ultimate paperweight. 0
