purchased a 1916 spanish mauser. any scout scope suggestions for this rifle??? thanks for any input.

  I used a B-square on a couple that worked OK.

  You can try S&K scope mounts @ scopemounts.com
  They have scout scope mounts that fit the rear sight, not shown on their sight info page. email them for info.
