Low Recoil Ammo in a Browning Bar?
anybody know if the low recoil ammo will cycle thru a Browning Bar 300 WinMag??? I am looking at buying one of the 300 mag Bars on gunBroker but i cant handle recoil from 300 Mag and would have to shoot low recoil ammo thru it but i am worried that it wont cycle thru... any advice? thanks

Yes, if you can't handle the 300 Win Mag, find a 308 BAR instead. Shooting reduced loads in a 300 BAR is a great way to have a single shot rifle. 0 -

thats what i was afraid of... $649 for new Bar 300WM looked like a sweet deal but if i cant handle the recoil nor cycle low recoil ammo thru it... doesnt do me much good... thanks again! 0 -
I've put 5 boxes of the Rem managed recoil thru mine and it always ejects 0 -
Put a muzzle brake on the BAR and full power loads will feel like a 308. I have one in that configuration and recoil is no problem at all. 0 -
If your experience with the 300 WM is based on a bolt action or a single shot you may find that the gas operated system of the BAR provides less perceived recoil and the extra weight of the weapon will also serve to dampen the effect. I had a .338 WM and found it quite comfortable even though I couldn't stand the 7mm Rem Mag in a standard weight M-700 BDL. 0 -
its a new gun listed here on GB and i cant go shoot it prior to buying unfortunately. i really dont need the power of a .300mag and i dont want to spend the $$$ and take a chance i cant handle the recoil. the .300 mag is $650 and all other calibers are a lot more $$$. They are having a glut of extra inventory on those 300's and just trying to get rid of them cheap. i would much rather have a 7mm08 or 308 and not have to worry about the recoil. 0 -
Tried the low power ammo in a 30-06 BAR and it wouldn't cycle. I believe that it's noted on the ammo box that it shouldn't be used in a semi auto.
I have a 300 BAR with a brake on it and it's not to bad, loud but not bad.0
