As I understand it, Extraction problems are common on the M-67. Mine has it too.

The chamber may be slightly pitted and when the brass expands it is hanging in the rough areas. Gently polish the chamber untill it is smooth as glass. Do not take out metal by using a heavy duty polishing tool.

You cannot replace the barrel on a Winchester model 67 as the barrel is part of the reciever.I would try other brands of ammo and see if it makes a difference.I shot many thousands of rounds out of mine every year and have never had your problem.Mine is the youth model and my wifes favorite. You could have the barrel relined, but that may be expensive.

Tooth paste will do very little to a rifle's chamber other than make it shiny as long as there is no rust! You might try swabbing the chamber with a well oiled patch, then roll a sheet or partial sheet of 180 grit sandpaper (the kind used on metal) and insert it into the chamber and turn it over (rotate) many, many times (it doesn't really matter whether you rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise). (On larger calibered rifles, I use a bore brush that is smaller then the rifle's chamber and wrap the sandpaper around the bore brush, insert it into the chamber and turn it over 20 to 30 complete turns.) Remove it and swab out the chamber with a clean patch. If there is rust on either the sandpaper or the clean patch, then that was more than likely the problem. You might want to repeat the above one more time, just to be sure that the rust has been removed from the chamber. Next, polish the chamber with a clean and new bore brush using an in and out motion, not circular or turning motion as any rings in the chamber, will have a tendency to hold or restrict the brass casing from being retracted from the chamber. Swab the chamber one more time with a clean patch, then take the rifle out and shoot some Long Rifle ammo through it and see if the problem still exists. If it does, then I would recommend taking the rifle to a competent Gunsmith.

Do you have the extraction problem with all brands of LR ammo? I had a 22 rifle once that only had extraction problems with one particular brand. If you haven't already, try several. Logically, though, polishing the chamber should fix your problem.

What did you do to get it working?

I used 320 sand paper..wd40 and a bore brush with a coreless drill. Did that until the fired hull would slide in and out without hanging up.
