Remington 14 vs 14A

okay, so what is the difference between the Remington 14 and 14A in 35 Rem? My books just mention the models but dont differentiate between them.

  To the best of my knowledge the 14A was only manufactured in 38-40 and 44-40. If you have another is is very rare or altered. The model 141 was manufactured in 35 Rem.

  The 14 1/2 was made in 38-40 and 44-40 . The 14A was the early version of the Mod. 14 and had a thumb operated safety in the bolt which was redundant , there is a trigger block safety in the trigger guard , which is the one they kept.

  i have three rem 14-1/2 rifles, two have safetie only by the trigger guard and one only has the thumb nail safety,no trigger guard safety.i can see why they got rid of the thumb nail safety. eastbank.
