Winchester 20 gauge
I have a Winchester model 12 shotgun 20 gauge with a stainless steel barrel. The serial number is 650885. How old is this gun and what would it's approximate value be? Several people I have talked to were not aware of a stainless steel barrel option on this model.

Please post clear pictures of the markings on the barrel and also the finish on the barrel. Do not try to clean the black, If any left finish on the gun.

Serial 650885 is an April 1930 vintage gun, and it is in the correct time period for the brief period of time Winchester offered a stainless steel barrel. Winchester introduced the Stainless Steel barrel in 1926, and discontinued it in 1931.
The value is determined by the graded condition, and for the guns with a Stainless Steel barrel, the amount of original black enamel paint still on the barrel.

The gun is in good condition,but has virtually no enamel on the barrel. Everyone kept telling me I was crazy about the stainless barrel. Thanks for clearing that up! can send picture shortly 0 -
