Don't know what to tell you. The screw has threads on the shaft, as well as corresponding threads in the receiver.
It had to screw in somehow during assembly at the factory.

We need a good close up picture of that screw.
All I've changed have a slot or allen head.0 -
i talked with the tech rep at cheaper than dirt he stated that the screw was slotted or a 3/16 allen key there was definitely no slot in the screw so i bought an allen sure enough the screw came out unfortunately for me i backed it out too far and the spring and stop piece came out i was working on my desk with a white desk top calendar it showed up the spring and stop easily i then looked at the manualexploded views and inserted both parts properly now everything is operating the way it should now my left handed grandson should have no problem shooting that rifle i would like to thank all of the people who tried to help me thats why i keep coming back to this website hank k 0
