Colt Delta Elite / Ciener .22 conversion kit
I'm picking up a Colt Delta Elite (10mm) next week. It's one of the new ones they came out with a year or two ago. It's supposedly the exact same gun with the Series 80 parts as the previously manufactured Delta Elites.
Does anyone know if the Delta Elite frame will accept the Ciener .22 LR conversion for the 1911? The Ciener 1911 conversion kits supposedly fit on both Series 70 and Series 80 guns. I'm just wondering if the Delta Elite frame is the same as the standard Colt 1911 Government frame. I'm trying to avoid wasting money.
Thank you.

The conversion unit should work on the new Delta Elite and will be much cheaper to shoot then 10MM 0 -
Before buying the Ciener, I would contact Advantage Arms in CA about their conversation unit. I have have been using one of their units on my Glock 20 for a number of years now with thousands of rounds down the tube, and I'm very satisfied. Never had a personal experience with the Ciener conversations, but understand that dealing with Ciener is quite difficult if problems occur with the conversation. 0 -
That's why I don't plan on dealing with Ciener. You can buy them on Midway. I have experience with Ciener and friends who have more experience with Ciener conversion kits. High quality stuff. 0 -
I would buy a Colt ACE II conversion unit. They are not much more money that a Ciener, designed for the series 80 frame and will hold their value much better. Pic of mine on a SIG 1911.

This goes back to my question. Is the standard .45 ACP 1911 Government Series 80 frame the same as the Delta Elite Series 80 frame? I thought Series 80 referred to the safety system and not the frame. 0 -
I don't think Ciener makes series 80 compatible top end. Now if the Delta Elite has that series 80 safety it might be a waste of money (if the parts don't jive).
Now if it were me I'd send the gun out to Bar-Sto and have them fit a .40 S&W barrel. I know it's not like cheap shooter like a .22LR but still cheaper than 10mm.0 -
Hope this answers your questions. I took my Delta Elite (which is built on a series 80 frame), and put my Ace II (which is for a series 80 frame, on it. Did not fire it, but I see no reason why it would not function properly.

Clays-- Thank you. Question answered.
Yes, Ciener's kit is for Series 70 and 80 and I have a need for a .40 S&W like I have a need for another hole in the head [:D] I'll never have a reason to own anything in that over-rated chambering.
Ciener wouldn't sell many 1911 conversion kits if they didn't sell one compatible with the Series 80.
Also, all DE's are Series 80.0 -

Well I always thought Ciener made slides for the series 70 and older. I'd call and make sure befor plunking down the cash.0 -
Something to consider, it it means anything to you......
Several of the conversion kits and I cannot tell you which ones do and which ones do not, WILL NOT lock the slide back on the last shot.
This can be a significant issue if you are using the conversion unit for practice related to one of the handgun shooting sports. So, be aware. I do not believe the Ciener conversion will lock the slide back.
I CAN tell you that the original Colt Ace kit DOES lock the slide back when the magazine is empty (mine does, anyway). I DO NOT know it the Colt AceII kit will do the same.0
