Post 64 model 70 refinish tip

Hi again; My post 64 model 70 Winchester .308 stock has a black tip on the end. It looks like it is covered in Clear plastic coating. It is bably chipped (the coating), and is there a way to fix this or do I have to put a new end on the stock? How is the end attached? Glue? How can I remedy this? Actually the whole stock needs to be redone, but I don't have the money to have it done professionally. Thanks as always, Mike

  Strip the whole thing with paste stripper and refinish it yourself, there are plenty of threads here to help you through it. Its fun and rewarding.
