I have recently purchased a Colt with serial # g1188xx . Can anyone tell me the year and some history? I have looked on proofhouse already with no success.

  You have to look under "Frontier Scout & Peacemaker" revolvers as the "New Frontier" is just a "Peacemaker" with adjustable sights. The year of manufacture was 1975.
