A-5 light 20 vs A-5 Mag 20

I recently won the bid on a Japan Light 20, and have been noticing that the preferred version seems to be the Mag 20. Is there any reason for this, or just personal preference. I am aware that the Mag 20 will shoot 3 inch shells and Light 20 will not. Any other differences?

  The mag 20 is heavier, more prone to fore end cracking and is finiky with light loads.

  I have the Light 12 which itself is a little on the heavy side. The mag 12 is a quite a bit heavier but you can shoot 3" shells. The same will apply to the 20.
