In your photo #3, it appears that your barrel has the "N.M." marking? If this is correct and the serial number range is between 101,000 and 108,000? It is what collectors call the "New Model", made years after the end of the U.S. Civil War, for commercial sale. Estimated numbers made approximately 5,000. Probably one of the last of the Spencer variations made in any quantity.
Can't tell by your photos if the finish on the rifle is factory original or not? It does appear to be in good shape though. If it is factory original, probably a $2000-$3000 rifle stateside, don't have a freeken clue to what it would be worth in Italy?0 -
Thanks rufe-snow, thanks alot. You give me many information I was looking for. Correct, there is N.M. stamped near the markings and the serial number is 1003xx. Thanks for the information about the value, also. Rifle is in quite good condition with original finishing and the stock has an excelent look. I will try to make better photos soon. Thank you again. 0 -
another key to its type is the relief cuts on inside of reciever edges(pic3 right hand side) these are 1865 and later for single shot loading 0 -
Rufe, the current Flayderman's Guide lists U.S. value for the New Model of $1400 for Good condition to $2000 for Fine condition. 0
