New WIFI Router
So, just in case the goobermint does ban Chinese TP-Link routers, I ordered a new one from NetGear. Good reviews and promised easy setup and faster speeds.
The "Quick Setup" sheet said to download their app and then just follow the instructions.
Downloaded. Opened app. No instructions, just links to shop for NetGear products. Tried manual setup. Forced me to change passwords to manage the device, but then would not accept the new passwords. Tried for three freaking hours to get this damn thing working. Finally did, only to learn that my new download speeds were HALF of what the old TP-Link router gave us. Dismal speeds.
Re-installed old router. Sending the NetGear one back to Amazon.

We have a netgear nighthawk. Fast speed, covers all our devices. Set up was so easy and straight forward. We also bought one for our daughter. Set it up with same results. Won't buy anything else.
Man, you seem to have a run of bad computer luck, upgrades, updates, OS, blocked, wifi, router, server,,,,, you need a new I.T.

Linksys routers get pretty decent reviews and are not made in China. It wouldn't surprise me if there were Chinese parts, but they're built in Taiwan.
(OK, still Chinese, but not CCP Chinese!)

Except for the router, all my problems have been exterior to my machines. Linux is essentially bulletproof. My old TP-Link router has been flawless as well, but the US Goobermint is thinking about banning them because the Chinese can use them for evil things without the user being aware.
Unless and until that happens, I'll just change the password to my router and hope for the best. If they are banned, I'll buy something else — but not NetGear.

Well, at least Netgear is US made.
TP link, Chinese. Scary. Some of the radio gear in my airplane came from China!!0 -
I have Linksys Velop router and wi-fi extenders. I wanted to add another extender for the basement and got the same thing as I have had upstairs for years. The unit came with no instructions for installation.
